The Salad Tree
Our garden will be very limited in space. I was looking for ways tp maximize the produce by using the ressourcesefficiently. By my little stroll through permaculture videos I found this neat idea:
The Potato Tower
Ah! Gone are the rows and rows of potatoes, no digging needed, only a little space for plenty of lovely spuds.
Barrel Gardening
This, is just genious. You don´t even need a pice of land o work with. Just get yourself a barrel and start your own vegetable micro agriculture on your balcony, your backyard or your rooftop. If you integrate some watering system known from windowfarming or containergardening, even better!
Self Watering Plant Containers
With only a tiny bit of effort and basicly scrap material you can easily turn any other bucket or container in a self watering plant container system. You could also buy such a system (Ikea used to have them for about 27,- € a 5l container), whatever you prefer. With this containers you can easily go on a holiday in midsummer without fearing that your tomatoes are withering to death or the neighbour secretly emptying your bar.
This video gives you a rough idea about the system, then you can go on and build with whatever you will find in your area.
Upside Down Gardening
All your beds are planted, every space is used and then you realized you forgot the tomatoes! Catastrophy strikes! But wait, there is a sloution! When there is no space on the floor, grow´em in the air! It does not quite look as beautiful as the floating islands back in avatar, but it´s roughly the same idea!
This video shows you a quick how to. If you already know who to drill holes in walls jump to about 6 minutes. That´s where it gets interesting.
